U2 Tickets Going Fast

(RollingStone.com) -- Extra dates added to U2's "Elevation" tour in wake of quick sell-outs
U2 seem to be well on their way to erasing any lingering bad memories of playing to non-capacity audiences on their last U.S. tour, 1997's PopMart tour. Approximately 100,000 tickets for the first six dates of the band's upcoming Elevation tour sold out immediately Saturday, prompting the band to book additional dates in four of the cities.
The sell-out dates included the tour's opening night, March 24th at the National Car Rental Center in Miami, along with May 12th at Chicago's United Center, May 24th at Toronto's Air Canada Centre, May 30th at Detroit's Palace of Auburn Hills, June 5th at Boston's FleetCenter and June 11th at Philadelphia's First Union Center. The additional shows -- May 13th and 15th in Chicago, May 25th in Toronto, June 6th and 8th in Boston and June 12th in Philadelphia -- also sold out promptly.
According to the band's Web site, www.U2.com, advance tickets offered to fans who had registered with the site were also snatched up within minutes of going on sale.
Tickets for the next batch of shows -- March 29th in Charlotte, North Carolina; March 30th in Atlanta; April 3rd in Dallas; April 6th in Denver; April 9th in Calgary; April 12th in Tacoma, Washington; April 13th in Vancouver; April 15th in Portland, Oregon; April 17th in San Diego; April 28th in Phoenix; May 1st in Minneapolis; May 3rd in Cleveland; May 27th in Montreal and June 14th in Washington, D.C. -- all go on sale Saturday. Tickets for the April 19th show in San Jose, California, and the April 23rd show in Anaheim, California, go on sale Sunday.
As previously reported, ticket prices are $45 for stands and floor general admission "seats," $85 for reserved stands and $130 for golden circle seats.
