Reactions to U2's "Elevation"

(Filmforce) -- The video with computer-generated Lara Croft footage is out now, so what does the band think of their efforts?
by Paul Davidson
A few days ago, we were told that not everyone was 100% pleased with the results of U2's latest music video, "Elevation", an ambitious video with footage of a computer-generated Lara Croft interacting with the U2 band members. Various technical details and the inability of Tomb Raider star Angelina Jolie to shoot new footage for the video were blamed.
Maybe people just had their expectations set a little too high, or everything was just too hectic between the filming and the band's tour. At any rate, everyone has had a second look at the video, and the reaction is more positive now. According to a source on the band's team, 3 out of the 4 rock stars "really dig" the video. The fourth is merely indifferent about it.
Edge (guitarist for U2) in particular is happy with the video. He had to do a lot of green-screen acting with the imaginary Lara Croft – a new experience for him – and reportedly found it very confusing as to what he was supposed to do during the shoot. He is very amused with the final cut, however, once the Lara footage was added in.
The response from IGN FilmForce readers who have seen "Elevation" has also been positive. If you haven't had a chance to see the video for yourself, it's now available for download in several formats at the official U2 site, though at the time of this writing I haven't been able to download more than a few seconds' worth. The video also airs frequently on MTV.
