(BBC.co.uk) -- Irish rockers U2 have won three prizes at the Meteor Ireland Music Awards, held in their home town of Dublin.
The band, who were represented by bass player Adam Clayton at the ceremony, won best Irish band, best Irish album and best live performance.
Gwen Stefani, Kanye West and the Kaiser Chiefs won international awards at the event, held at Dublin's Point Theatre.
The Pogues got a lifetime achievement award, while Westlife were best Irish pop act for the sixth year running.
After collecting their prize, the boy band revealed they may soon be recording a duet with controversial pop star Michael Jackson.
"It would be a cool thing to do," said singer Shane Filan. "We are all big fans."
Hosted by comedian Patrick Kielty, the awards featured performances from Sugababes, McFly, Jamie Cullum and The Darkness.
The evening closed with the Pogues and the Dubliners joining forces for a rendition of Irish Rover.
"It is nice to be a legend when you are still alive," said Pogues frontman Shane McGowan after the event.
"A lifetime achievement award is not part of any job really."
Actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers, former Atomic Kitten member Kerry Katona and X Factor judge Louis Walsh also attended the ceremony, to be broadcast on RTE2 this Sunday.
